I’m not going to write this in third person, because I do not have a team. I put in all the work.
My name is Christopher Schriner but I prefer to go by Schriz since there are so many people named Chris in this world. I’m from Salina, Kansas. I’ve always loved drawing and sketching, and feel like an artist to the core. I grew up somewhere between lower and middle class. My parents spoiled us pretty hard with materialistic shit as children - us being my brother and me. He’s 2.5 years younger, and is a total badass. I did the sports thing (mostly soccer) until my teenage years when it was time to get a job. My first job other than scorekeeping at the ball diamonds was Dairy Queen. I ended up going to technical school for Auto Body & Paint because I knew I didn’t want to pay for college. My younger brother and I both lost very good friends when we were young and I believe it fucked us up pretty good. We both then jumped face first into street racing, partying, drinking, and drugs. This quickly morphed into me moving to Cumming, Georgia in 2008 at 20 years old because I realized I needed to escape my current situation and grow the fuck up.
I landed a job powder coating in a manufacturing facility the first week we arrived in GA at $14 an hour. I met my wife Jewelz through friends at a party somewhere around 2010. We moved back to Salina in 2013 and ended up getting married in 2016. She’s my ride or die, and supports all my idiotic ideas and shenanigans for some reason(s). We love to do escape rooms together whenever we go out of town or travel.
I worked at Vortex from 2013 until somewhere in 2021 if I remember correctly. I started there at $14 an hour as well, starting over, but quickly starting getting promoted and climbing the ladder, and with that came more money and stress.
I ended up quitting my manufacturing job here to start my own business in lawn care, that’s why there is a “Solutions by Schriner” tab on this website. I’m not making near as much money as I was working out at Vortex, but have more free time and that makes me happier. To be completely transparent, I basically left a $60k/year job to not even make $20k/year cutting grass and adding financial stress, BUT this allowed me to get back to my artistic tendencies and self, so I believe it will be a win long term.
Now I want to be a tattoo artist. I’ve been hanging out at a shop since the first week of August 2023, and am hoping to officially start an apprenticeship somewhere around the beginning of 2024. When I’m not drawing or studying, I’m hanging out with gamer friends dunking on people in various video games.
Update 1/25/2024.
We have filed the paperwork for my apprenticeship and it will be official on February 5th. This year is going to be exciting, and if you’re interested in letting me tattoo you, stop by Subvert Studio in Salina, or hit me up!
If you ever want to know more about me or just talk, hit me up.
Please reach out via email or IG if you want any commission work, or would like to support my art life for as little as ONE dollar via Patreon riiiiiiight here.
